This benefit was for a single mother family who recently had a wall in their home cave in due to water damage. Held in Beaverton Michigan.
SheaMusic was on deck when we arrived at The Beaverton Bowl Sunday afternoon and everyone sounded great!
Banana Convention was up next and really got the music swirling with such up beat tunes like "Keep on Dancin' ". A special guest on harmony and tamborine, Lorin Isin, who recieved his B.C. tie, must have studied for quite some time for this oppurtunity because he had every song down pat. Well done Lorin. "Crimson and Clover" moved me and left a warmth in the air that was oh so groovy. I heard a splash of Cochran in Mel's voice, along with her own strong, soulful moan that moved the music through the room and into my heart. Mel's aucoustic guitar work was precise and refined, as well as Jekel's lead work and everyone else in the band.

Noel and Kimberly chummin' it up.

Next up was Zuby, a three piece from Detroit. The timing in thier tunes reminded me of the Doors, Jethro Tull and jazz. The two part harmony set everything in place. Hooker was very impressed with these three.

Then Sprout took the stage. The Dead are indeed alive and well! The drummer is clean, just right on the end of the coat tail, driving the sprout out of the earth, as the keys shine the light and the bass keeps the heart beat driving. Then the lead comes in and the flower opens for all of us to enjoy - how beautiful is that! As the modulation takes over like rain and thunder clapping, you feel fed and full. "When will you be mine", along with everything Sprout did was a boat load of fun. Thanks to special guests Dave Kellan and Chuck Diemer.

All the while, Shea was to be seen making sure the bands had what they needed, including rodying for them on occasion. Her M.C. work was outstanding, never missing a beat by the hecklers. A true proffesional. Well done Shea!
Last count, $1,000.00 was raised to repair the house for the single mother family. Well done everyone!
We were unable to stay for Jedi Mind Trip, Lucky Livingstons and The Dave Kellan band, but I'm sure the calibur of music and musicianship were just as high for the rest of the event. Thanks again to all the muscians who traveled so far. It's a shame that our local music rag couldn't be there. Perhaps next time. G.B.H. ~Levi~
